Self-care while on vacation in Puerto Vallarta

April enjoyed her vacation in Puerto Vallarta and augmented it with neurofeedback sessions.

Editor’s note: A client recently received a week of neurofeedback sessions while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta. She shares her experience, and we are grateful for her kind words.

Every time I do neurofeedback sessions, I walk away feeling better. It's interesting the different experiences I've had: sometimes, I get energized, sometimes, I'm completely at peace, and sometimes, I'm tired.

What I do know is that it typically feels somewhat like an integration, that I'm integrating things that are floating around in my body, brain, mind, and Spirit, and that the sessions make me more grounded.

The music is soothing, and the environment is safe and calm. You can give your hands something to do if you need to, but I prefer to listen to the music. One of these times, I will use the visualizer with the music because I like staring at things.

A form of cleaning your brain out a wonderful form of self-care.

When I finish [the neurofeedback session] regardless of what state of emotion, I walk away feeling cleaner in my head.

We have assigned our brain a large job of creating homeostasis when we continuously disrupt it. This causes chinks, and, for lack of a better word, something like free radicals floating around, and if they get to float around for long enough, they'll get ingrained and start creating ruts in our brains. This is where rumination is a big problem. What I've found with neurofeedback sessions is that I don't ruminate. The fact that the music changes tones helps keep my brain engaged.

Suggestions, though, are that this is your time, and definitely use intent when you're spending the time and the money. Just look at it as your own benefit and your gift to yourself. Cleaning your brain out is a wonderful form of self-care.

Here are some borrowed benefits of the neurofeedback sessions:

  • Because you are taking this time to give to yourself, and if you do it intentionally, you will find that the crazy things that might make you react more extremely are not as difficult. You have created space in your brain, thereby creating space in your emotional body to handle things better.

  • We have a hard time giving ourselves this half hour—it's just one-half hour—and we have a hard time giving this to ourselves. View it as an intentional gift. Ask for it as a birthday gift. This is not a form of self-care that we usually look at as a gift, but it is just as good as massage, pedicure, or acupuncture. As a matter of fact, there have been times when I have used them in conjunction.

If you have any questions please ask the team of Puerto Vallarta Neurofeedback. They are on your side.

Thank you.
